Lavender Distillation

We distill our lavender using a traditional copper still—an age-old method that captures the plant’s pure essence using nothing but water, steam, and care. This hands-on process allows us to produce small batches of high-quality essential oil and hydrosol, preserving the integrity and therapeutic value of each bloom.

    • Lavender is hand-harvested at peak bloom for the richest aroma and oil yield.

    • Blossoms are carefully packed into the still to avoid bruising and preserve delicate compounds.

    • We use a blend of flower heads and small amounts of leaf to create a balanced, full-bodied oil.

    • Steam gently rises through the lavender, separating essential oils from the plant material without solvents or additives.

    • The process is slow and precise, ensuring maximum purity and potency.

    • We use a copper still, which offers:

      • Natural antimicrobial properties

      • Even heat distribution

      • A smoother, refined aroma profile

      • A nod to centuries-old distillation traditions

    • As the steam cools, it condenses into two valuable products:

      • Lavender essential oil – the concentrated aromatic extract.

      • Lavender hydrosol – a gentle floral water used for skincare, linens, and more.

    • Both are filtered and stored in amber glass to protect their integrity.

    • To meet seasonal demand, we supplement our supply with oil from trusted farmers in Provence, France.

    • This oil is distilled from Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso', a robust hybrid known for its strong aroma and high yield.

    • Grosso thrives in the sun-drenched fields of southern France, producing an oil that complements our own with a bold, herbaceous profile.
